blue dog

Pencil sketch, photo-shopped colour wash
About: This painting was done for a dear friend whom I have only ever known online, well and once in a short long distance phone conversation. She was among the earliest to comment on a former blog of mine that ran 2.4 years, was a consistent commenter and, perhaps fittingly, ended up being the very last to comment. Our German Short-haired Pointer is by bread a dog completely dedicated to his "master" and a hound for love and affection. Mind, he gives out as much affection as he himself desires so all is far in love and dogs. He tried to scoot out the door with me a few days ago, running straight for the car, knowing I was leaving and not wanting to be left behind. It took two of our three kids to coax him back into the house. I am studying hard, still at least 10 hours a day in class and back at the hotel, gradually moving toward the first of three certification exams (there are three because that way you have a chance to pass it at least once) in order to be able to write the final two Fridays from today. To say I am missing my family is an understatement but it's for them, for us, that I am attempting to do this new career. Feeling blue like my K-9 friend but hoping for blue skies ahead. ::thrive! You can do it Owen! You're in my prayers even as I type. Wish we still lived in the area so we could visit while you're in London!

A visit we would welcome Heidi. Just the same, we accept the good thoughts and prayers from afar. As I write this (August 12) I am back in Windsor and have passed one of the two provincials. I write the next one on Tuesday the 14th.
