Birds & Fishes

N.F.S. but you can buy a print.

Other: Months ago, as in months and months ago, I got some Moleskine cahiers with kraft paper coloured covers. They simply beg to be drawn on themselves even before you get to the pages inside.

And, quite honestly I'd been stalled out when it came to making art and facing those blank pages wasn't helping me any even after I laid down the challenge of drawing something for 40 consecutive days. It's part of my way of observing Lent. Religious purists might point out that I'm missing the point of Lent which is alms giving, fasting and prayer.

Too bad for them. The good-God knows my heart and my heart says draw!

Something was lost

Media: Pen & Ink with an old Esterbrook on Moleskine Cahier

N.F.S. but you can buy a print.

Other: Something was lost. Me. Over the past three years a lot has gone down in this neck of the universe. A lot of good things. Some bad. Some that I'm still sorting out. One of the things that remains is that I still love to draw.

So, (a friend and I were asking each other) why we (as in the royal 'we') so often fail to do those things which bring us life and joy? Why do we put them off, set them aside for more 'important' things? Why do we squander the gifts given to us? Yes, yes, one must make a living and some people are fortunate enough or determined enough or both to make what they are absolutely passionate about the way that they earn there living. I'd like that.

In the mean time I have determined to keep drawing, no matter what and I hope my friend picks up his guitar again soon and does some noodling.

sponsor child

2007sept14_3

In February of 2005 we began sponsoring a child in Bangladesh via World Vision Canada. It's amazing how much he's grown in just over two years. It's a small thing. I wish we could do more. Dave Toycen, president and CEO of WVC wrote The Power of Generosity. It's not a pop-gospel tryst of American health n' wealth nonsense but a compelling and convincing account of humility and awakening to what being truly generous means in our personal and global relationships. Please, forget the latest by Joel Olsteen (or whomever) and read this one and sponsor a child via an organization of your choice. ::thrive! O
