Media: Acrylic on canvas. 10 inches H x 14 inches W

Not For Sale but prints are available.

Other: Completed in two days (that's fast) for a young woman headed to Australia. So this is my first painting to leave the continent! It was a joy to paint. I let loose with the background following my intuition on how to handle the theme.  ::thrive! O

Life Tree

Media: Acrylic on canvas. 20X24 inches

SOLD Private Collection but prints are available.

Other:

Commissioned in 2007. I do love creating trees. It is in a private collection and as of Spring 2008 is on its way to Whistler BC. Acrylic on canvas. 20X24 inches. The title here is just a working title. I don't know if the owner has renamed it or not.

And today, I was told by my hair stylist, a fellow artist, that my stuff is "just off enough" to be of a kind with the group of painters, artisans and tattoo artists she spends time with. And I can say Amen to that.

I also had the most wonderful conversation with an employee in his final day at an art supply store that I almost always visit when spending time in Mom's part of the province. It was his final day because he is about to launch out full time working freelance as an artist doing everything from paintings to models and set design for the film industry. What a treat to meet this soul on such a fine day for him. All the best man. You are living the dream!

Portrait of our son 2004

[Click here to view the Painting Gallery]

Media: Acrylic on canvas. 15H x 30W

Not For Sale but prints are available.

Other: One of my personal favourites. Painted while on a little holiday at my mom's in 'Toby's' room. Toby was mom's dog and 'his' room doubled as the room I slept in when visiting an on this occasion as my studio. The image is based on a snap shot of my son taken while we were playing in grandma's front yard earlier in that year.

Someone once told me, "Your portraits aren't exactly normal." I believe I answered, "Thank you."

Christ

Ob001

Acrylic on canvas. Actual size: 14X10 (as best I recall)
Private Collection
Prints Available

About: This painting was done for a dear friend whom I have only ever known online, well and once in a short long distance phone conversation. She was among the earliest to comment on a former blog of mine that ran 2.4 years, was  a consistent commenter and, perhaps fittingly, ended up being the very last to comment.

The painting came about like this: My friend saw a sketch on this site on an earlier incarnonion of this blog (hat tip to doogie for "incarnonion") and asked if I might turn it into a painting. The sketch was very rough and contained elements that were removed for the painting because I wanted to focus in exclusively on the head of Christ.

The texture is course and prickly. In real life you can touch the canvas and feel bumps and tiny spiked bits which do not show up well in this poor quality digital photo. I used a retardant medium and let it get very goopy before applying paint into the goo. Several applications of this achieved the tactile end I was hoping for.

Prints on 8.5 X 11 on quality gloss photo paper are available for 25.00 USD plus shipping (usually another 5 for anywhere in Canada or the USA). Signed prints are 30.00 E-mail if interested. ::thrive! O
